DILWORTH, MINN. (KFGO) – Veteran Minnesota State Representative Paul Marquart says he will not run for re-election to another term in 2022.
The DFL lawmaker from Dilworth says he has no regrets and no negative feelings about his retirement. The 65-year old legislator says he will go out on good terms, have more time with his family, and is looking at new things to do. He calls his position an honor and a privilege during his time in St. Paul.
Marquart says what he’ll miss the most as a legislator is his constituents in District 4B. He went door-to-door and got to know those he has represented for nearly 22 years.
He says he will remain interested in public service but once finished it will not be as an elective position.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2000. Prior to that he was a Dilworth City Council member and served 11 years a mayor.
Marquart says he will continue to as a teacher at DGF once this session is wrapped up.
