Detroit Lakes, MN (KDLM) – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the northern half of the state until 6:00 tonight. The winter storm system moved across Minnesota and western Wisconsin last night and will continue to move across the state today.
The Arrowhead will see lake effect snow, while north-central Minnesota and the Red River Valley are anticipating seven to 14 inches of snow with winds around 45 miles an hour.
Snow reported in central Minnesota last night varied from five to seven inches with wind gusts also reached 40 miles an hour.
Elsewhere, snowfall amounts are expected to be more in the two to five-inch range in the southern part of the state.
The National Weather Services reminds people if travel is necessary to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in their vehicle in case of an emergency.
