DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Lakes Area could receive up to 4 inches of snow Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service says a low pressure system will track from east central South Dakota toward Duluth. The greatest chance of 2 inches or more is in northwestern and west central Minnesota as well as a 20 percent chance of a band of 4 or more inches.
North winds will increase over eastern North Dakota and the Red River valley with gusts to 40 mph or higher possible Wednesday overnight into early Thursday. If enough snow does fall, this will create greatly reduced visibilities and blowing snow.
Much colder air will move in behind the system, with highs Thursday forecasted in the low teens.
