DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – An incident Wednesday left a watery mess in a new wing of the Detroit Lakes High School.
A report given to the Detroit Lakes Police Department indicates at 10:25 a.m. staff at the school observed water pouring from the ceiling of the 9th-grade wing. A garbage can was used to try to collect the water temporarily.
After checking bathrooms upstairs to identify what had caused the water damage, students identified a student responsible. The student said he stepped on a pipe that was sticking out of the floor, but “the pipe didn’t go down all the way”.
Two classrooms had to relocate during the cleanup, but all other classes resumed as normal and were unaffected the rest of the school day.
It is unclear how much damage or what the cost of repair may be at this time.
