Holiday Hand Up Helping Families in Need

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – An area nonprofit is encouraging residents and businesses to help local families in need over the holidays.

Lend A Hand Up, an organization that gives financial help for families with medical bills will pool gifts made through Dec. 15 to help 12 area families including one in Lake Park.

Brandon and Huxon Cossette of Lake Park are both battling health issues. Brandon has battled life-long complications from a liver transplant and was recently diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Huxon, Brandon’s infant son was born with a hole in his heart requiring cardiac surgery in August.

Individuals and businesses that makes a gift during Lend A Hand Up’s Holiday Hand Up will help support the Cossette family and be entered in a drawing to boost their gift up to $5,000.

Gifts can be made at LendAHandUp.org – Since 2008, more than $20M has been raised and 586 families have been helped.
