DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – It may be harder to get your hands on real Christmas trees this year, but an organization in Detroit Lakes will have some available on Black Friday.
Young Life, a Christian ministry that reaches out to middle school, high school and college students will have Christmas trees available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the West Lake Laundry in Detroit Lakes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends throughout December.
Extreme weather events like wildfires, droughts and floods have made this year an especially challenging season for Christmas tree growers, nonetheless a variety of species will be available including White Pine, Balsam, Fraser Fir and wreaths this year in Detroit Lakes.
Beth Leighton who helps out with the event says the money raised helps make an impact in the community, “The money goes to programming for club, going off to camp, events that kids get to attend and be a part of.”
Trees range from about $50 to $100.
