New York Mills Looking For Musicians To Fill Pep Band Rolls For State Football Game

NEW YORK MILLS, MN (KDLM) – The New York Mills Eagles football team is headed to the state tournament for the first time since 2006 and will play Deer River in Brainerd in the first round of the tournament on Friday night.

While there is no short supply of Eagles fans in New York Mills, the Eagles Pep Band could be a little short-handed come Friday night.

“Since many of our band students participate in both band and football, we are reaching out to the community for alumni and community members who may be interested in performing with the band on Friday night,” says the New York Mills Public School Facebook page. “Dig out your instrument and help us boost band numbers, while we support the Eagles as they start their state run.”

Area musicians interested in playing in the Pep Band in Brainerd on Friday night can reach out to Cambria Jacobs (cjacobs@nymills.k12.mn.us) for more details. The Pep Band will meet in the New York Mills band room at 3:30 on Friday to rehearse, then will load the trailer and head towards Brainerd a 4:45.

The kickoff is at 7:00. The game can be heard on The Lakes 99.5, and can be streamed through the Lakes Area Radio App.
