Minnesota Governor Tim Walz launches re-election campaign

(KDLM) – Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan launched their re-election campaign today in a video released Tuesday morning.

“We’ve got to move forward as one Minnesota,” Walz says in the video. “Peggy and I asked Minnesotans to come together and make a goal-line stand. To fight COVID and protect the economy. The fight’s not over but we’ve got the ball back. We’re on offense and we’re making progress. But the same people who blocked this are trying to take us backwards,”

Their campaign promises to make Minnesota a leader in its response to the pandemic, help grow the economy by “investing in workers and small business,” improve police training and accountability, “tackling crime and gun violence” and “giving every child a world-class education no matter who they are or where they live.”

More than a half-dozen candidates are already seeking the Republican nomination to challenge him next year, including former Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, state Senator, Michelle Benson, and former state Senator, Scott Jensen.

The 2022 governor election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8.
