VERGAS, MN (KDLM) – Steve and Marcia Huddleston, their son Brad and his wife Mallory have officially taken over the Vergas Hardware Store.

The Huddleston family purchased the store from Paul Pinke, who has owned the Vergas Hardware store for the past 43 years. Pinke and the Huddlestons have been working side-by-side in the store over the last few weeks during the ownership transition.

Steve is a graduate of Perham High School, and he and his son Brad have worked as building contractors for the last 20 years.

The Huddlestons said in a Facebook post on the Vergas Hardware Store page that they are excited about their new venture, and plan to do their best in continuing Vergas Hardware for many years to come, and hope that someday their grandkids will take over the new family business.

Stanley, the famous Vergas Hardware Store cat, will also stay on the payroll with the new owners. Stanley’s counterpart, Lightning, passed away in late August, and the Huddelstons hope to find Stanley a new feline co-worker in the near future.
