Rossman Elementary Students Requested to Wear Masks

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Rossman Elementary School in Detroit Lakes has fallen into the Moderate Transmission range of the Covid-19 Mitigation Matrix, and school administrators are now requesting that students and staff wear masks.

Rossman Principal Emily Sternberg sent an e-mail to parents Wednesday night saying that the school’s transmission range is now between 1 and 2.9%. She also states in the e-mail that “requesting” masks and “requiring” masks are not the same thing, according to the Mitigation Matrix that the school district follows, and that school leaders are monitoring the situation closely.

According to the report, 11 students at Rossman elementary and one staff member tested positive for COVID in the past 7 days. 28 students in the district and 3 staff have tested positive in the last seven days.
