Man dies after he was pinned underneath lawnmower

STAPLES, Minn. (KFGO) – A man found dead near Staples was killed when a lawnmower he was working on backed over him.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victim as 84-year-old Russell Schimpp of rural Staples. Deputies believe Schimpp was pinned to the ground by the mower.

Family members and an ambulance were on the scene prior to law enforcement. It isn’t known how long he had been outside before his body was found.
