MAHNOMEN COUNTY, MINN. (KFGO) – Two people were injured when their Nissan Rogue struck a black bear on the edge of Mahnomen.

The State Patrol says the vehicle was southbound on Highway 59 near County Road 25 when it collided with the bear. The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver, 72-year old Bonnie Jean Badboy, and her passenger, 69-year old Sherald Hanks, both of Waubun, were taken to the Mahnomen Health Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow says it appears the bear survived. The only trace found was some black fur on the bumper of the vehicle.
