VERGAS, MN (KDLM) –
Big things are happening in Vergas. The city is raising funding for new pickleball courts, adding a Veteran’s Memorial, and is in the middle of constructing a new grocery store, gym, and apartment complex downtown. The Vergas Event Center was recently remodeled, and the city recently put in a boardwalk near Long Lake.
And now the city wants to know what they should do next.
The City of Vergas is going to hold an open meeting to discuss their 15-year plan for the city but wants to know what other amenities, activities, or changes they should consider adding at the Imagining The Future of Vergas meeting on Tuesday, October 19th at Billy’s Corner Bar from 7-9.
“We have been very progressive here in Vergas,” says city clerk Julie Lammers. “We welcome in thousands of visitors and tourists throughout the year. We have completely open minds to any idea that people from the Vergas area would like to see us move in. We are working on or have completed a number of projects, and now we want to find out what direction our community wants us to go.”
Vergas residents can bring and share ideas with community leaders, listen to other residents’ ideas for the future of the city.
“The city is looking at different road projects, different hiking paths, and things like that,” says Lammers. “But we don’t really want to get into a direction until we know what the residents want us to move forward with.”
