FALCON HEIGHTS, MN (KDLM/KPRW) – Perham senior Jakob McCleary finished in 10th place at the annual Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad Golf Course on Friday afternoon.
McCleary and 445 other runners took off from the starting blocks in the Griak Boys’ Gold 5K race one year after the race was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
McCleary finished with a time of 16:29.1, 39 seconds behind winner Sam Scott of Minneapolis Southwest, who finished in 15:49.3.
The Roy Griak Invitational, now in its 35th year, is one of the nation’s elite cross country competitions, featuring DI, DII, and DIII collegiate runners, plus four heats of high school 5Ks.
