DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Representatives from the Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee will visit the Washington Ballpark in Detroit Lakes, Wednesday.

The group will be touring the facility in an effort to learn about proposed renovations to the park. The city of Detroit Lakes is asking for more than $1 million in state funds to preserve and rehabilitate the historic ballfield and grandstand.

If the State approves the project, the city will refurbish the wood siding and spectator benches, address ADA accessibility, improve dugouts, add a warning track and remove a storm sewer manhole that is in the outfield.

The public is invited to view a short presentation to the Committee and view the renovation plans on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m.

Construction is tentatively set to begin in August of 2022 with a completion date of May, 2023.
