Detroit Lakes Woman Sponsoring Bullet & Stab Protective Vest for Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office K9

MAHNOMEN (KDLM) – Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office K9 Odin will receive a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.

K9 Odin’s vest is sponsored by Lisa Saunders of Detroit Lakes, MN and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love-Trained to Serve-Loyal Always”.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The body armor is custom fitted to each dog.

The organization has provided more than 4,000 vests to K9s in all 50 states totaling more than $6.9 million. Each vest has a value of $1,744-$2,283 and weighs an average of 4-5 lbs.
