‘All-Ashore’ Allowing Two Lakes Area Men to Turn Passion into Business

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Two Lakes Area young men have taken their passion for lake life and created a business thats kept them around the lakes all summer.

Ben Boomgaarden and Adam Gotchie grew up helping put docks and lifts in for family and friends, this past March they decided to turn it into a business and offer more services under the name All-Ashore.

All-Ashore now offers dock and lift installation and removal as well as beach cleanup, weed removal, pressure washing, on-site boat detailing and dock and lift maintenance. The business has been booming this summer, especially with low water levels, hot temperatures and an influx of vegetation growth says 20 year-old Boomgarden, “usually when we’re out cleaning beaches one or two neighbors will come over – we’ve ended up doing five or six in a row and it turns out great because then nobody has to worry about their neighbors stuff washing over.”

Boomgaarden says they’ll then come back weekly or bi-weekly to maintain the beach, which then leads to other projects, “a lot of times it turns into can you also weed out our rip rap, or throw some more rocks back up, we just want to be in a position where we’re able to offer all those services when they’re needed.”

Unusually hot weather and high demand for All-Ashore’s service has meant long hours for the two men this summer, but Boomgaarden says it has been a blessing and they’re making plans to offer residential snow removal, roof snow removal, and ice dam steaming this winter allowing the business to provide services year-round.
