DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Becker County Fair is back after being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year.
In its 127th year the fair is planning for four days of family fun and entertainment beginning Wednesday, July 28. The fair which is held each year at the Becker County Fairgrounds in Detroit Lakes will have familiar activities including the midway, 4H and FFA showcases, a volleyball tournament and demo derby as well as a new event, the truck and tractor pull.
The fairgrounds has undergone a handful of improvements. New cement slabs have been poured near the children’s barn, DNR building and at the livestock barns. The historic pioneer cabin has been given a facelift as well. A six-person crew from Northern Bedrock Historic Preservation Corps in Duluth begin work on the cabin in mid June adding new cedar shingles, and replacing chinking and rotted out sill logs at the base of the cabin.
