DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – One of the longest running pageants in the state does not have enough contestants to field a competition this summer.
The Miss Northwest Pageant, which has been a staple in the Detroit Lakes area for nearly 100 years announced, Monday that they did not have enough candidates to hold a competition during the Northwest Water Carnival.
The pageant, which began in 1935 has produced four Miss Minnesota’s, the last in 2013 when Rebecca Yeh from Nisswa won the competition, who all competed in the Miss America Pageant.
Organizers of the Miss Northwest Pageant plan to promote the program throughout the year and hope to have a title holder next year.
