Aquatic Roadside Pickup Program Hits a Snag

Jun 30, 2021 | 10:16 AM

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Aquatic Roadside Pickup program in the Lakes Area had to be temporarily suspended this week due to equipment issues.

The Bobcat used by the Pelican River Watershed District failed and the organization was unsure if parts would be able to be found to make necessary repairs. The pickup program allows residents to collect plants that blow into shore on lakes Detroit, Curfman, Sallie and Melissa and place them along the roadside to be picked up.

The Watershed District was able to rent a small tractor and plan to pick up lake vegetation this week.
