DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – After being cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic last year, the 4th of July Fireworks will be back on the Detroit Lakes City Beach.

For decades, residents and vacationers have lined the city beach, their back yards or viewed the fireworks display from their boats and this year, the show will be even bigger than before says Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce President, Carrie Johnston, “the budget has been increased, normally we do about $20,000 worth of fireworks, this year with the 150th celebration of Detroit Lakes we’re doing about $30,000 worth of fireworks.”

The fireworks display will take place on Sunday, July 4 at dusk (approximately 10 p.m.) with the best view at the Detroit Lakes City Park and Detroit Lakes City Beach.
