Arvig Awards More Than 30 Scholarships to Area Seniors

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Arvig has awarded more than 30 high school seniors a Royale B. and Eleanor M. Arvig Memorial Scholarship.

Students were selected based on achievements or interest in the field of mathematics, engineering, accounting, computer science, telecommunications or any of the physical sciences and will receive $3,000 each.

“We are proud to invest in the futures of area students,” said David Arvig, Vice President/Chief Operating Officer at Arvig. “Our rural communities need educated and talented young people to be our future leaders. We want to congratulate each one on their success and wish them the best of luck as they pursue their education.”

Local scholarship winners includes:

  • Halli Pavek (Detroit Lakes High School), majoring in pre-med biology
  • Christian Carlson (Frazee-Vergas High School), majoring in engineering
  • Samuel Stigen (Hawley High School), majoring in business/accounting
  • Kay Pederson (Lake Park Audubon High School), majoring in business/accounting
  • Max Ose (Mahnomen High School), majoring in engineering
  • Jack Fudge (Perham High School), majoring in accounting
  • Trinity Hoagland (White Earth High School), major is undecided
