DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Becker County is planning to hire an expert to help the county’s townships navigate Federal rules and regulations associated with the American Rescue Plan.
The county will receive just over $6.5 million, larger townships are eligible to receive $200,000, while smaller townships could secure $35,000.
Mike Brethorst, Becker County Administrator indicated during Tuesday’s Commission meeting that a dedicated expert is needed, “the idea is that this person will be directly coordinating with the townships to secure the funds, helping the townships do the reporting and help the townships identify potential collaborations.”
The position would be temporary, lasting 2.5 years and be paid using no more than 2% of the American Rescue Plan dollars the county will receive.
The county plans to present the idea formally to the townships on Tuesday, June 22.
