COON RAPIDS, MN (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes junior golfer McKenna Mallow is eight shots off the lead at the Class AAA State Girls Golf Tournament after the first day of play.
Mallow shot a 42-36-78 (+6) and is tied for 21st place. Freshman Laura Syltie is tied for a share of 66th place after shooting 44-46-90 in her first-ever State tournament. Mallow is golfing in her fourth state tournament. Olivia Salonek of Roseville and Reese McCauley of Simley are tied for the lead at two-under-par.
Section 8AAA Champion Alexandria is in the hunt for the State Championship after finishing Day One in second place, two strokes behind Maple Grove.
