Hawley Softball Team Wins Section Tournament in Dramatic Fashion

FRAZEE (KDLM) – Section 8AA Softball Championship in Frazee, the Hawley Nuggets came from behind a couple of times to defeat the Pequot Lakes Patriots 8-7 to earn the right to go to the State Tournament at Caswell Park in Mankato.

The Nuggets had a 5-4 lead into the top of the 7th, before the Patriots hit a 3-run home run. The Patriots lead 7-5 into the bottom of the 7th, before the Nuggets got runners on 2nd and 3rd and Kaylie Crabtree hit a two run single to tie the game at 7, before she moved to second on the throw home. Addi Dauber then hit the game winning single to win it for Hawley 8-7.

The State Tournament is Tuesday and Wednesday June 15-16. The Nuggets will have to win their first game at 1pm Tuesday on KRCQ to get a second and third.
