DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Detroit Lakes is under an Extreme Heat Power Use Alert.
With the extremely high temperatures, Detroit Lakes Public Utilities is asking customers to conserve energy throughout the afternoon as much as possible.
You can limit your electrical usage by turning up your thermostat a few degrees, closing your drapes or blinds during the day, shutting off all unnecessary lights and equipment, and delaying using appliances until later in the evening.
Your efforts to reduce electric usage will help to avoid the need for rolling blackouts in Detroit Lakes.
