Minneapolis, MN (KDLM)-

The Minnesota Twins have announced their plans to increase capacity at Target Field over the summer.

After last Thursday’s outline from Governor Tim Wals to re-open the state after over a year of COVID-19 restrictions, the Twins have detailed their own multi-phase plan to get to 100% capacity at Target Field by the middle of the summer.

Beginning tomorrow, Twins home games will have 60% capacity, which is a huge increase from the 25% they were allowed to have when the season began in March. The Twins have 12 home games scheduled from May 14th thru May 30th.

Starting June 1st, the Twins will increase capacity to 80%. The Twins will host teams such as the New York Yankees (June 8-10), Houston Astros (June 11-13), Cincinnati Reds (June 21-22), and the Cleveland Indians (June 24-27).

The team will then drop all COVID-19 restrictions for the first July homestand on July 5th (The Twins are on the road July 1-4). The Twins will then have full capacity in the stadium for the final 40 games of the season.
“Our fans are what make baseball great, as they truly transform Target Field into our home ballpark, and a day or evening at the Twins game into lifelong memories.” Twins President and CEO Dave St. Peter said in a statement. “To that end, we are grateful that our state and region continue to be on a path toward improved health and a return to normalcy, and we are absolutely thrilled to begin our measured, responsible and safe ramp up to 100 percent capacity at the ballpark. We cannot wait to see – and hear – a full house at Target Field.”
The Twins will keep a section of physically distanced seating but fans that want to utilize those must call the Twins office in advance.
