Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes to be Renovated

Proposed plans to renovate Holmes Theatre ballroom, kitchen and corridor areas.

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes City Council has approved a request to renovate the Historic Holmes Theatre,

Private funds will be used for the project which is estimated to cost between $500,000 to $700,000. The proposed remodel will update the theatre’s ballroom, removing the stage to create an event space, the theatre’s balcony seating will be updated and updates to the kitchen will also occur.

“The construction will take place in conjunction with the museum project, because the museum will be connected to the DLCCC so the timing is very good,” said Mayor Matt Brenk.

During Tuesday’s council meeting, Peter Jacobson, CEO of the DLCCC indicated that some of the funding has already been secured for the project.
