Marquart Encouraged by Walz’ Plan to Reduce State COVID Restrictions

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Representative Paul Marquart is encouraged by Governor Walz’ plan to reduce COVID-19 restrictions in Minnesota.

Last week, Walz announced plans to reduce restrictions in the state including removing gathering limits outdoors, a plan to end capacity and distancing limits at indoor events and gatherings and the end of face mask requirements by July 1 or as soon as 70% of the state’s population over 16 receives a COVID vaccine.

“In the last 14 months, people have gone through a lot of stress, anxiety and emotional pain. It’s really really good to see the light at the end of the tunnel and a return to normalcy,” said Marquart.

Though restrictions may be loosening, there has been no timeline as to when Governor Walz will relinquish his Emergency Powers which have been renewed each month since March of 2020. His next monthly renewal isn’t up for consideration until May 14.
