DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Sen. Tina Smith visited Detroit Lakes and Perham on Saturday as part of a two-day tour of rural Minnesota.
Smith toured the Boys and Girls Club and businesses in downtown Detroit Lakes before making stops at Perham Health and Bongards in Perham.
“This is a great example of a community coming together and meeting needs in a community and I’m thinking about the work I want to continue to do in Washington to support afterschool programs,” said Smith at the Boys and Girls Club in Detroit Lakes.
Her visit to the Lakes Area was an attempt to promote rural economic development, rural health care services and expanded broadband services in rural Minnesota.
