Midco Crews to Begin Installing Fiber Internet Lines Throughout Detroit Lakes this Summer

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – A new internet, phone and TV provider is coming to Detroit Lakes and the Lakes Area this summer.

Midco has made a $22 million privately funded investment to bring their array of services and products to the area.

Justin Forde, Senior Director of Government Relations at Midco says crews are already scouting the city to begin placing their underground fiber lines, “You’re going to see several crews here in town this summer and it’s more of a surgical process…we want to do the least disturbance as possible, but you will begin noticing crews throughout town as the process takes place.”

Forde expects underground lines to begin being placed throughout Detroit Lakes this summer and by Fall service to begin being turned on in waves from the center of the city out.

“This is economic development, we continue to invest heavily in this community. We’ve purchased some property along the railroad tracks. A lot of our technology and investments will be underground and you’ll never see, but we’ll have some great technical facilities in town, we also will open a warehouse here in town that we’ll renovate for equipment and folks coming in.”

The company is actively hiring for a variety of positions that will be located within Detroit Lakes and will serve the Lakes Area.
