Community Job Fair in Detroit Lakes Thursday

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Nearly 50 Lakes Area businesses will participate in a Community Job Fair on Thursday.

The event, which will be held in the M State parking lot from 2-5:30pm is free to attend and hosted by Rural Minnesota CEP.

Minnesota’s unemployment rate fell to 4.2% in March, but in most Lakes Area counties the unemployment rate is between 5-8%, still many employers are having a hard time filling open positions.

“Everyone is desperately seeking employees; there is extra money out there, but it will end, so if there is someplace you would like to work, now is the time to connect with an employer and find that job you would really like to do. Don’t wait until those last dollars trickle in,” said Kelly Nowell with Rural Minnesota CEP.

Employers representing a wide range of industries including manufacturing, construction, health care, retail and others will be available to speak with directly at the Community Job Fair, Thursday.

Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and be prepared to interview on site.
