VERNDALE (KDLM) – A child was rescued from a house fire in Verndale.
Shortly before 10:00pm on Wednesday, April 7, the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire in the 400 block of Brown St. NW in Verndale.
A resident of the home indicated that she was unable to locate her one-year old child in the home. Officers made several attempts to locate the child in the home, but heat and smoke made much of the area inaccessible.
The Verndale Fire Department was able to gain access to the area through an upstairs window and a short time later, the child was located and transported to a Twin Cities hospital.
The child’s mother was treated for smoke inhalation and burns.
The incident remains under investigation and the current status of those involved is unknown.
