DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The city of Detroit Lakes would like to connect the city’s west side bike trail system and the Heartland State Trail.
To connect the two trails, a new bike path would need to be constructed through an already congested downtown area.
Kelcey Klemm, Detroit Lakes City Administrator says one of the options up for consideration is to create a path along Frazee Street, “The current plan has some discussion about us going right down Frazee Street, and we’re redoing about a block and half of Frazee Street this year because timing is critical.”
The City Council during a special meeting, Tuesday discussed the idea. A variety of options were considered, including not doing anything.
Mayor Matt Brenk has asked that the discussion be taken up in the Public Works Committee with hopes that a more concrete plan can be voted on in an upcoming City Council meeting.
