ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Gov. Tim Walz, Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan and state health commissioner Jan Malcolm are in quarantine for the next week after close contact with a staff member who tested positive for Covid-19.

The governor’s office says they were not within six feet of the person for more than 15 minutes, but were in the same room during a Monday news conference.

Walz, Flanagan and Malcolm will quarantine until next Thurs.

Walz has not yet been vaccinated. Flanagan has received one of two recommended doses of the Moderna vaccine. Malcolm was given the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine but is still within the two-week waiting period.

As a result of the quarantine, Walz has postponed his State of the State address which had been scheduled for 6 p.m. Sun.
