ST. PAUL (KDLM) – Cody Kisor, a trooper with the Minnesota State Patrol, recently received a lifesaving award for intervening in a man’s suicide attempt in Detroit Lakes.
In September after receiving a report that a man intended to kill himself by hanging in Detroit Lakes, Kisor raced to the location and cut the man free.
“Trooper Kisor found the suicidal man in his basement hanging from a beam, unconscious and not breathing. Kisor was able to cut him down, lower him to the floor and begin rescue breathing,” Colonel Matt Langer said during a virtual awards ceremony.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety gave Kisor its Life Saving Award, presented to members of the State patrol who distinguish themselves by performing acts that prevent the death of another.
