WHITE EARTH (KDLM) – A public virtual open house will be held today with the company replacing the line 3 oil pipeline throughout northern Minnesota.
Work has already begun on the multibillion-dollar Line 3 Replacement Program which stretches for more than 300 miles across northern Minnesota. More than 3,000 people from around the country are currently working on the project.
Opponents of the project, including the Red Lake and White Earth Bands of Ojibwe argue the project exposes northern Minnesota to risks of an oil spill, and would greatly exacerbate the impacts of climate change.
The virtual open house begins at 5:00pm and the company plans to give minnesota and tribal residents an update on the project. To join vist enbridgeopenhouse.com/feboh
Enbridge began work on the pipeline on Dec. 1, and has said it anticipates that construction will take six to nine months.
