DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Becker County Board of Commission reluctantly approved two of the One Watershed One Plan, Tuesday.
The Becker County Commission, which initially opposed the new plan reluctantly approved to join the plans fearing they would lose their seat at the table if they didn’t join.
“There will be times when Becker County has a major project and there will be times when it has nothing. If no one is at the table, you’re more apt to have the more nothings than a project if you’re not at the table,” said one commissioner.
The commission agreed to approve the Buffalo-Red River and Wild Rice River plans.
The plan coordinated by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Conservation would provide funding distributed to watersheds across the state rather than designated by county lines.
