FERGUS FALLS, MN (KDLM)-
The Laker boys hockey team fell on the road to the Fergus Falls Otters 5-2 on Friday night. The Lakers, who have been bitten by the injury bug lately, scored a goal in the 1st period as Junior Spencer Bergman scored on a turnover at the 3:09 mark. The Otters were not behind for long as Cole Zierden scored the equalizer just over a minute later. The Lakers added another goal in the 1st period and retook the lead, with Carter Bellefeuille scoring at the 5:41 mark. The Lakers then allowed 3-unanswered goals with Ian Richards, Landon Thacker, and Kellen Stenstrom finding the back of the net. The Otters outshot the Lakers 42-15. Offensively the Lakers went 0-4 on the powerplay.
The Lakers fall to 5-4 on the season and will look to bounce back on Tuesday night with they host the Northern Lakes Lightning. The Otters have now won 7 straight games and improve their record to 7-1 on the season. They will return to the ice on Tuesday when they take on St. Cloud Cathedral.

Girls Basketball: The Lakers dominated at Staples-Motley on Friday night with a 73-42 win against the Cardinals. Detroit Lakes moves above .500 with the win and are 5-4 overall on the season. The Lakers also improve their Mid-State Conference record to 4-2. Detroit Lakes will match up with the (7-2) Alexandria Cardinals on Tuesday night at the Ralph Anderson Gymnasium. Alexandria is on a six-game winning streak.
