DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are expected to continue through the weekend with wind chills as low as -55F.
The National Weather Service is warning residents to be cautious venturing outside this weekend; a Windchill Watch remains in effect through Sunday. Much of the Lakes Area will remain below zero through Monday.
Exposure to low windchills can cause frostbite; exposed skin can freeze within 10 minutes with windchills of -35 to –50. The National Weather Service recommends dressing appropriately, avoid staying in the cold too long and keeping travel to a minimum if possible.
