DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The city of Detroit Lakes is reminding residents and business owners to remove snow and ice from sidewalks in a timely manner.
Mayor Matt Brenk says the city has gotten a number of calls this winter about icy sidewalks throughout the city. “We don’t have the man power or the time to clean all of the sidewalks in Detroit Lakes – to clean all the sidewalks it would take all the man power at Public Works 4 days.”
The City Ordinance requires residential districts to have snow removed within 24 hours and 72 hours for commercial districts.
Brenk admits this year has been tough for many residents to keep up, because of the amount of ice build-up.
