DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Becker County has approved more than $200,000 in business relief grant funding with more likely.

The grants are available to businesses that have experienced a financial hardship by being directed to close their business or modify their operations due to Minnesota Executive Order 20-99

As of February 2, the County has approved $227,000 in grants to businesses within the county.

Three grants are available

A $2,000 grant has been extended and amended to allow for losses caused by state requirements that fell short of a full shut-down, such as when a portion of a business had to close, but the rest could stay open. The original $2,000 grant was for state-mandated full closures only.

A second grant, the Business Block Grant is designed for the hospitality industry, which will provide $5,000 to $20,000 to motels, bars, restaurants, gyms, caterers, bowling alleys and similar businesses.

Additionally, a Third Round of the CARES Act Business Relief Grants is also available.

Applications for the new County grant programs are available on the Becker County website through February 22 and money will need to be spent by March 15.
