DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Becker County’s business relief grants are now available, but many home based businesses are wondering if they qualify.
Mike Brethorst, County Administrator says, “If you have four walls, and you have a business that directly provides customer service or care, we encourage you apply, but you must demonstrate a financial loss due to COVID-19.”
Three grants are available
A $2,000 grant has been extended and amended to allow for losses caused by state requirements that fell short of a full shut-down, such as when a portion of a business had to close, but the rest could stay open. The original $2,000 grant was for state-mandated full closures only.
A second grant, the Business Block Grant is designed for the hospitality industry, which will provide $5,000 to $20,000 to motels, bars, restaurants, gyms, caterers, bowling alleys and similar businesses.
Additionally, a Third Round of the CARES Act Business Relief Grants is also available.
Applications for the new County grant programs are available on the Becker County website through February 22 and money will need to be spent by March 15.
