DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Becker County is working with local health care facilities and partners on the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
A press release from the county indicated the supply of vaccine is limited, and vaccine guidelines are prioritized. Becker County and local health care facilities continue to work through the phased priority groups with their allotted doses.
Becker County’s allotments are currently in phase 1A which includes health care personnel and long-term care residents. “Local Public Health and health care partners will notify the community as additional people are able to get the vaccine,” the press release said.
“We know this is important and we ask for understanding and patience, as we work closely with our local partners to vaccinate individuals in the priority groups” stated Kristin Bausman, Becker County, Public Health Supervisor.
The State of Minnesota has opened vaccine administration to those 65 and older as well as prekindergarten through grade 12 educators, school staff, and childcare workers with nine pilot vaccination sites around Minnesota, including Andover, Brooklyn Center, Fergus Falls, Marshall, Mountain Iron, North Mankato, Rochester, St. Cloud and Thief River Falls.
The Minnesota Department of Health is taking appointments for the pilot vaccine sites online or by phone. On a weekly basis, they will reopen registration each Tuesday.
