DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Detroit Lakes Public Utilities Commission has agreed to provide operational support to the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center (DLCCC).

The COVID-19 pandemic has left the DLCCC with significant financial impacts, “The impact of COVID-19 and subsequent shutdowns has had a dramatic impact on memberships and theater shows, and subsequently our financial situation,” Peter Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer at the DLCCC said in a joint letter from the Detroit Lakes Public Utility and the DLCCC.

“The Commission has a business development and loan grant pool and decided to provide grant funding to the DLCCC for some of its operational costs. This is a short term measure until the DLCCC can once again return to normal operations,” Vernell Roberts, General Manager of the DLPU said.

The investment by the Detroit Lakes Public Utility will help assist the DLCCC to recover.
