Governor Tim Walz is expected to announce a loosening of restrictions on indoor dining, which has been shut down since Nov. 18 due to COVID-19, during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
Walz hinted during a radio interview on WCCO Radio in Minneapolis on New Year’s Day that he would announce his decision to the current COVID restrictions sometime this week and confirmed this in a Monday evening statement via his spokesperson Teddy Tschann.
The current COVID-19 restrictions on dine-in service were implemented in mid-November amid surging cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota.
Governor Walz will give a live address at 2:00 on Wednesday afternoon. The current ban on indoor dining in the state of Minnesota is due to expire on January 11th.
North Dakota will ease Covid-19 bar and restaurant restrictions Friday, allowing bars and restaurants to go to 65% capacity from 50%. Event, banquet and ballroom venues will be allowed to serve up to half of normal capacity, up from 25%
Burgum originally ordered the restrictions on certain businesses in mid-November when the state was ranked as having the worst COVID outbreak in the country.
