Lakes Area Woman Overcomes Teen Pregnancy, Sexual Assault and Alcoholism

DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – Week five of Inside Out, a 10-part collaborative video series features Karen Pifher, who has overcome a multitude of obstacles in her life including teen pregnancy, sexual assault and alcoholism.

Pifher describes the events that lead to addiction and ultimately how she’s overcome and has been a positive role model in the Lakes Area.

She credits a good support system as a vital first positive step, “Know or find your support system, for me, just having people that I could talk to was huge; a lot of times you feel alone and like nobody would understand.”
