DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) – The Becker County Board of Commissioners wants to remind residents that Emergency Business Relief grants are still available.
The one-time grants of $2,000 are available to businesses that have experienced a financial hardship by being directed to close their business or modify their operations due to Minnesota Executive Order 20-99
As of December 23, the County has awarded $92,000 in grants to businesses within the county said Becker County Administrator, Mike Brethorst, “We’re really pleased with that, but we know there is more need out there, so we’re looking to have people help put the word out there. The County is looking at an additional program after the 1st of the year that is a little broader to help businesses that have been affected by COVID-19.”
Grant funds received by businesses are to be used to cover costs due to the pandemic such as payroll expense support, rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, and other expenses that occur in the regular course of business.
The application is available at the Becker County website (www.co.becker.mn.us)
